PDO Coffee Morning - organised by Christa Dyson
On Sunday, 11 May 2003, Gianna Minton gave a presentation on the OWDRG's research projects to the American Women's group. Shortly afterward a member of the audience, Christa Dyson, offered to organise a "Whale Coast" coffee morning for friends and acquaintances. It was proposed as a means of raising both awareness and funds for the group's work.
The OWDRG team were delighted to accept such a kind offer and the coffee morning was arranged for the 2nd June and was held in Christa's home. Christa had gone to a huge amount of effort, organising raffle prizes, home bakes, and over 40 ladies to attend, as well as a reporter and photographer from Oman's weekly news publication: 'The Week'. The lovely Mandy set up a table of Whale Coast Oman merchandise and did a roaring trade on t-shirts, caps and wheel covers, raising significant funds for research. Additional generous donations and raffle ticket sales raised an additional OMR 327! This donation will be put to very good use as it is almost exactly the amount required to pay for essential work needed for the group's boat.
Christa's coffee morning was a huge success and we are very grateful to her for the effort she went to.
